KCB to get piped natural gas soon

PUNE: The first phase of laying piped natural gas connection by the Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) in Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) has been completed in the civil area under the board’s limits, while in Pune Cantonment Board (PCB), the process is yet to start as the formal permission letter is being processed.

AM Tambekar, Managing Director of MNGL, told Sakal Times, that the first project of laying piped natural gas in defence area was started in New Delhi in 2017. “In Pune, the pipelines will be laid under Khadki Cantonment limits in two phases. Almost 90 per cent of the first phase of laying the underground pipeline of 2.5 km that is in the civil area at Khadki Bazaar has been done,” he said.

“Around 6,000 households in KCB will have piped natural gas. The second phase includes Range Hill, Aundh Military Station, College of Military Engineering and similar places apart from the civil area,” Tambekar added.

“In PCB, the work will start soon as the agreement and final permission is still in process. In PCB, there are 6,500 connections.”
