Jal Dindi set to take off on December 20

Pune: The two-day river pilgrimage, Pavana Jal Dindi, will begin on December 20. As a curtain raiser to the event, Rotary Club of Walhekarwadi, along with Sunil Shankarrao Shelke Foundation, Talegaon, are taking a step forward to clean the riverbeds along Pavana river and create awareness among locals to keep the river clean from December 18 to 20.

Pune: The two-day river pilgrimage, Pavana Jal Dindi, will begin on December 20. As a curtain raiser to the event, Rotary Club of Walhekarwadi, along with Sunil Shankarrao Shelke Foundation, Talegaon, are taking a step forward to clean the riverbeds along Pavana river and create awareness among locals to keep the river clean from December 18 to 20.

The two NGOs will clean the 40 km stretch starting from Pavana Dam to Gahunje. Pradeep Valhekar, Founder of Rotary Club of Walhekarwadi, said, “There are 50 representatives from our club and from Shelke Foundation. We will work on ten major river beds from 35 villages along the Pavana river like Pavananagar Kale colony, Shivli, Badavli, Thugaon, Malwandi, Dhore, Shivane among the others every day. Along with our representatives, the locals of the villages will also join hands for the initiative.”
