It might rain in State on April 4, 5: IMD

Pune: Maharashtra might witness rainfall on April 4 and 5, according to Pune-based India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The Department’s forecast says light showers are expected in Vidarbha on April 4 whereas, rainfall is predicted in southern Konkan and Goa, southern-central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha on April 5.

On Sunday, Pune recorded 38 degrees Celsius as maximum temperature and 17 degrees Celsius minimum. 

The IMD forecast says maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain the same till April 7.

On Sunday, the IMD noted that severe heatwave conditions prevailed at some parts of west Rajasthan whereas heatwave conditions prevailed in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu division, east Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and in remaining parts of west Rajasthan.

The IMD noted that a squall occurred over Balasore in Odisha with northerly direction. The highest wind gust was about 68 km per hour lasting for two minutes on Saturday. Hailstorm also occurred on Saturday over Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh which were 0.22 to 0.5 cm in diameter.

The IMD predicted that thunderstorms accompanied with gusty winds are likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Dust storms or thunderstorms are very likely at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab on April 3. Whereas, thunderstorms accompanied with squall are very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura on April 5.
