Israel ground forces chief Barak visits HQ Southern Command

In Ahmednagar, Major General Neeraj Kapur, Commandant, ACC&S, briefed the delegation on the institution’s inception and methodology of training.

PUNE: A six-member high-level delegation led by Major General Yacov (Kobi) Barak, chief of ground forces, Israel visited Armoured Corps Centre and School (ACC&S), Ahmednagar on Wednesday, with a view to get acquainted on the methodology of training at this premier training institution of the Indian Army. The team also visited Pune-based Army’s Southern Command Headquarters on Thursday.

In Ahmednagar, Major General Neeraj Kapur, Commandant, ACC&S, briefed the delegation on the institution’s inception and methodology of training. The delegation thereafter was provided a first-hand account of basic and advanced technical and tactical training being imparted at ACC&S. The delegation also visited world class Cavalry Tank Museum. The delegation was also given a glimpse of the rich Cavalry traditions of the Indian Army.

On arrival from Ahmednagar, the delegation visited HQ Southern Command on Thursday. The Israeli chief was given a brief of activities of Southern Command and thereafter interacted with Lieutenant General P Mohammed Hariz, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command. Orit Barak, wife of Major General Barak visited ‘Protsahan’, the skill development centre of Southern Command which imparts training to empower the wives of the Army personnel. After the visit of HQ SC, the Israeli chief along with his spouse and the delegation left for National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasala.
