International documentary and short film competition in Nov

Pune: City-based Malayalees Literary and Cultural Centre, “Vakdevatha,” has arranged an international documentary and short film competition to be held in November. The last date for receiving entries is October 15.

The applicants will be communicated about the details of the shortlisted movies by October 20 and the shortlisted movies will be screened for the public in the first week of November. The best films will be adjudged accordingly by the renowned judges in this field.  

“The objective of the film competition is to encourage upcoming talent in this field and also to provide a platform to exhibit their creativity along with professionals in this field,” said Velayudhan P. 

“In the Documentary, as well as short film section, Best Documentary, Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Actor, Best Actress will be awarded specially designed Vakdevatha mementos and cash awards. The duration of the film should be maximum 40 minutes. The film could be in any language, but compulsorily it should have English subtitles,” Velayudhan P said.
In addition, there will be a special award for the Best Film in Marathi and in the Malayalam language.

Interested candidates can send a copy of  DVD of the film to ‘Vakdevatha’, Flat No. 2, Building No. B-7, Sector G, Srivihar, Sidhi Vinayaka Nagari, Nigdi, Pune - 411 044. Similarly, the film can also be sent through a link to vakdevathafilmfestival@gmail.com. 
 
Details such as name of the film, category, language, duration (in minutes), Name of the Director, Mobile Number, along with other details should be clearly indicated on the DVD. 

There will be a nominal entry fee of Rs 300, which can be remitted either through a demand draft or cheque drawn in favour of VAKDEVATHA only. Entry fees can also be transferred online.
