Intense heat at noon, light showers in evening in Pune

Pune: On Tuesday, Pune city witnessed two contrasting phenomena. The city witnessed a very hot afternoon with 39.3 degrees Celsius whereas, in the evening, the skyline was covered with dark clouds. 

The pleasant evening was followed by thundershower and light drizzle to heavy rains IN many parts of the city. Pune-based India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported 0.8 mm rainfall in the city on Tuesday.

Across the State, Solapur, Satara and Osmanabad also witnessed rainfall. Mahabaleshwar and Satara reported 1 mm rainfall. Also, cities in Vidarbha and Marathwada recorded more than 40 degrees Celsius temperature. Akola recorded the maximum temperature in the State on Tuesday with 44.1 degrees Celsius while the lowest minimum temperature in the State was recorded in Osmanabad at 19.9 degrees Celsius.

IMD has earlier predicted rainfall on Tuesday. IMD has also forecast that Marathwada will witness thundershower along with rainfall on April 18. IMD has predicted a heatwave in Vidarbha on April 19. On Tuesday, Pune recorded minimum temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius. IMD forecast that, in coming days, the city will witness a rise in minimum temperature till 22 degrees Celsius and maximum temperature till 38 degrees Celsius.

On April 20, IMD has forecast that thunderstorms accompanied by squall are very likely at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab.
