Instagram stunt gone wrong claims one

Pune: A 20-year-old youth died while his cousin brother sustained severe injuries as his car hit a divider while trying to show stunt live on social media. 

The incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday in the great separator of Pimpri. The deceased have been identified as Shivam Prakash Jadhav of Kharalwadi in Pimpri. While his cousin Hrishikesh Vilas Pawar of Empire State, Chinchwad is undergoing treatment. 

According to police, Shivam was in the second year of engineering at DY Patil College of Engineering. He was fond of fast driving.

According to police, Shivam was in the second year of engineering at DY Patil College of Engineering. He was fond of fast driving. 

“He had taken the keys of his maternal uncle's car without his notice and had taken his cousin along to give him a demo of his driving skills. While going from Chinchwad station towards Vallabh Nagar, he asked Hrishikesh to go live on Instagram to show his speedometre. The speed was around 120 km/hr. While trying to increase the speed, Shivam lost control and the car hit a divider at grade separator of Pimpri,” said a Police official. 

Police officials said that Shivam’s father had died around seven years back and he was the only child. Shivam is survived by his mother and grandparents. 

A relative said, “His maternal uncle, Satish Kadam knew about his nephew’s fondness for speed and had warned Shivam’s mother about the same.”
