Pune: On Ashadhi Ekadashi on Tuesday, Indira Kids Baner recreated the 1,000-year-old tradition of ‘palkhi procession’ in their premises.

The entire school was in the groove with the beats of the ‘Taal’ which created an atmosphere of devotion.

The children dressed as little ‘warkaris’ waved saffron flags, danced while chanting ‘Vitthal Vitthal..’ as they followed the palkhi procession.  Girls were dressed in traditional nine-yard sarees while boys were dressed in white kurta and pyjama to bring out the festive fervour in the celebrations.

The palkhi procession passes through Pune city every year. The function was held in the school to educate children about the traditions of the city and the values that are attached to it.
