India Post ready for Raksha Bandhan

PUNE: With the festival of Raksha Bandhan round the corner, (August 15), Pune Postal Region has made elaborate arrangements for disposal of rakhi mails from August 1 to August 15.

16 post offices of the city are keeping special trays for different cities for rakhi mails and customised envelopes have been made available at all post offices in the city.

“During Raksha Bandhan, we get lots of mails. Therefore we have kept separate trays for different cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi etc. For rakhi mails, it helps in making segregating mail according to location faster and ensures timely disposal,” said Assistant Post Master General, Pune Region, RS Gaikwad.

“A lot of people prefer postal service for their rakhi mails as it is cost-effective and reliable. Therefore, to facilitate the people, we arrange trays for better segregation and timely delivery. We have also sent the customised envelopes on Saturday and they are now available in all post offices in the city,” said Swati Dalvi, Senior Post Master, Pune City.

These separate trays help in segregation and reduce time at the processing centre for the staff which helps ensure timely delivery. Pune Head Office Senior Post Master NR Shedge said, “These separate trays for different cities reduce time at processing centre by facilitating us in segregating it quickly. This also ensures the timely delivery of the mails without any delay, which eventually benefits the customers.”

“We also have customised envelopes for rakhis, which are thick and of good quality. Some people opt for heavier ones as well. There are chances of the envelopes getting damaged while handling the mails. This can be avoided with these customised envelopes,” added Shedge.

The separate trays for rakhis are available at the following post offices: Pune City, Pune HO, Khadki, Deccan Gymkhana, Shivajinagar, Yerawda, Ganeshkhind, Parvati, Model Colony, Pimpri PF, Chinchwad East, Hadapsar SO, SP College, Market Yard PO, Ex-Servicemen Colony and Swargate.
