Pune: Pune received 38 mm rainfall from 8:30 am till 5:30 pm on Monday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a well marked low-pressure area lies over north coastal Odisha and neighbourhood. The system is very likely to move west-northwestwards across central India, thereby enhancing the rainfall over central India which also includes Maharashtra during next two days.
From Sunday evening till 8:30 am on Monday, IMD reported 26.6 mm rainfall in the city. Many parts of the city reported continuous rainfall since Sunday night. So far for July, Pune city has received 102.9 mm rainfall.
IMD has further predicted rainfall in the city till July 22. It has also predicted heavy rainfall in Konkan and Goa, Marathwada, central Maharashtra and Vidarbha till July 20.
Other parts of the State also experienced good rainfall on Monday i.e. Mahabaleshwar (117 mm), Nashik (21 mm), Kolhapur (36 mm), Solapur (8 mm), Mumbai (15 mm), Dahanu (10 mm), Parbhani (46 mm), Aurangabad (15 mm), Buldhana (4 mm) and Nagpur (13 mm).
IMD noted that the southwest monsoon has been vigorous over central Maharashtra and Kerala and active over Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karnataka. It has been subdued over Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar.
Till Monday morning, total rainfall during the past 24 hours reported by 354 stations in the plains is 621.1 centimetres. Normal rainfall for these stations is 442.6 centimetres.
IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over coastal Karnataka and Kerala till July 20. Heavy rain at isolated places likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Gujarat region and south interior Karnataka during the same time.
