Pune: Speaking in his usual sarcastic style of oratory, MNS chief Raj Thackeray said that he ‘feels like murdering the inventor of the camera phone, as people have nowadays stopped seeing any moment with their eyes and are always on the phone looking through the camera. He was in the city for the inauguration of a hospital and a garden on Sunday.

Reaching the venue almost two hours late, the fiery orator inaugurated the Ahilyadevi Holkar garden at Katraj, developed by corporator Vasant More, and inspected the mosaic murals based on the incident from the life of Sambhaji Bhosale, son of Shivaji. Thackeray praised the work done by More.

“Vasant is well known for his development activities, which never ceases. He builds gardens wherever he goes. But if the President of India grants me permission for one murder, I feel like murdering the inventor of camera phones,” he said, adding, “People have stopped experiencing moments with their eyes and are always standing with their phones out. They do not appreciate the beauty of anything that someone has created with efforts.”

He further proceeded to praise MNS corporators. “All my corporators do good work. No matter what, they have been at the forefront of developing their wards. But people nowadays don’t vote for the work done by someone. They are falling for fake promises and dreams,” Thackeray said, adding, “If one is not getting votes for work done, then why should anyone work and take efforts?”
