I don’t know what’s going on in Sadhvi Pragya’s mind: BJP VP

PUNE: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s controversial remark amid the Lok Sabha polls have stunned the BJP. When questioned the, Vice-President of the party Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, said that he doesn’t know what is in her mind, but the party respects Hemant Karkare.

Sahasrabuddhe is a Member of Parliament (MP) of Rajya Sabha and political scholar. He was in Pune to take part in the election campaign of BJP-Shiv Sena led coalition candidate Girish Bapat.

Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, the 2008 Malegaon blasts accused is contesting Lok Sabha election as a BJP candidate, has boasted that 26/11 hero Hemant Karkare died because she had ‘cursed’ him. When media sought the party’s reaction, he said, “I haven’t seen the actual statement of Sadhvi Pragya. I read in the newspaper and received information on WhatsApp. I don’t know what is going on in Sadhvi’s mind. However, the party has respect for Hemant Karkare. I haven’t contacted her. After speaking to her, I can give you my reaction.”

When asked will the party probe Sadhvi Pragya, he said, “We will do it in the course of time.” He avoided giving further explanation of Sadhvi’s statement. 

Sahasrabuddhe showed data of the BJP government’s achievements of the last five years. He said, “Every government announces development schemes but, implementation is key to the success of the government. Our development schemes have benefitted marginal farmers, women and youths. Flyovers and bridges are a part of that development. But, transformation in the lives of the poor tells you the actual benefits of our government’s schemes. People are fascinated by Modi and we will once again form the government.”

Replying to a question about why PM Modi is attacking the opposition leaders in his speeches instead of projecting his government’s achievements, Sahasrabuddhe replied, “Modi has mentioned the achievements of the government in his speeches but, the media has ignored  this issue and highlighted what they want to.” 

He further said, “If people are saying ‘Sab Modi Chor Hai’, then they will get a reaction and it is a natural one.”

The Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) city unit members agitated near Balgandharva Rangmandir on Friday to condemn the controversial statement of BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur. The party also raised slogans against BJP and Pragya Singh Thakur.
