84-year-old Lal, who is a medical biologist by profession, unfurled the National flag and addressed the gathering. Several patriotic songs were sung on the occasion. St Andrews Hindustani Covenant Church was established by Scottish Military Mission first and was taken care of by Swedish Mission

Pune: The St Andrews Hindustani Covenant Church, Pune, celebrated India’s 71st Independence Day by hoisting the National flag. Great-granddaughter of Diwan Sir Thanjavur Madhava Row and Urmila Lal were present for this function, as the chief guest, along with her husband Ret Lt Col Shambhuji Lal.

In 1963, it was handed over to Hindustani Covenant Church, informed Sachin S Masih, Assistant and youth Pastor at St Andrews Hindustani Covenant Church
