Pune: A Hyderabad-based organisation, Recykal has stepped in Pune recently to collect solid waste from societies, industries, schools and individuals and give it to recycling companies.

After successfully working in Hyderabad for two years by providing the solid waste to recyclers they want to carry out similar activities here. Their aim is to make people aware of segregation at source and identify valuable resources from the waste.

Chetan Baregar, Marketing Manager of Recykal, said, “From last two months we are picking up solid waste from 20 societies of Pune and giving it to 50 registered recycling companies which are tied up with us, situated in Vapi, Vasai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Through the ‘Uzed’ app and through our website, people can contact us and give us their segregated or unsegregated garbage. Our volunteers and vans will collect it and take it to the recycling companies.”

He said, “We charge for the service and our rates are nominal. Based on volume we collect the garbage. We deal only in solid or dry waste. From the societies in which we are working in, the maximum generation of waste is of mixed plastic, carton and papers.”

“After collecting the waste from any individual or society we give them a digital invoice and the same is given to the recycler. We will be soon coming up with a tracking system where the customer will be able to track the van till it reaches the recycling company,” said Baregar.
