Pune: Residents of Kondhwa, including NIBM Road and Salunkhe Vihar, suffered a 36-hour power cut from Saturday midnight to Monday afternoon as heavy rain caused power failure. Electricity was restored on Monday at 12.30 pm.

Due to heavy rain from Saturday night, residents were forced to remain without electricity. Aashna Shaikh, who lives in Fatima Nagar, said, "There is no power here since 2 am. It has been almost 36 hours without power and we have made several calls to the electricity board. We have two emergency lights but they too have discharged now," Shaikh said.

"Our society doesn’t have electricity. There is no generator in the society. I have been in Pune since eight years and have never come across such a situation, so I never got any alternative power source," said Shikha Agnihotri, who lives in Sai Dwarkamai Society on NIBM Road.
