HDFC employee arrested for duping customer of Rs. 1.88 cr

The accused was identified as Niraj Tilak

Pune: A bank official of a private bank was arrested by Mundhwa police for duping an elderly woman of Rs 1.88 crore. 

The accused was identified as Niraj Tilak (45), a resident of Narayan Peth.

Tilak used to work as a cashier in the HDFC Bank and gained the confidence of the complainant and took money amounting to Rs 1.88 crore from her HDFC Bank account over one-and-half years from January 2017.

According to the Mundhwa police, Tilak assured the complainant that he will help provide her with help in financial transactions of her business. After gaining her confidence he made her sign cheques and took  the amount from her account.

The police have registered a case under section 420 (cheating ) and 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code.
