Hailstorm, light rain in city

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperature in the city will remain around 39 degrees Celsius till April 18 with cloudy skies in the evening. 

PUNE: After two evenings of drizzle, various areas in Pune on Monday reported hailstorm, along with drizzles. Sanswadi, Hadapsar, Manikbaug, Sinhagad Road and Kothrud received hailstorm. 

Other areas in the city reported light showers in the evening and a pleasant cooler breeze.

However, the afternoon in the city was very humid with maximum temperature reported to be at 39 degrees Celsius while the night temperature was reported to be at 22.5 degrees Celsius. 

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperature in the city will remain around 39 degrees Celsius till April 18 with cloudy skies in the evening. 

Later, the mercury may touch 40 degrees Celsius with clearer skies.

The highest maximum temperature reported in the State was 44.8 degrees Celsius in Chandrapur. 

The lowest minimum temperature in the State was 20.5 degrees Celsius in Ahmednagar.

IMD has forecasted that till April 16, thunderstorm, along with strong winds, will continue in Vidarbha. Rest of the State will have dry weather during this time.

NATIONAL SCENARIO
Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated pockets over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha till April 16 evening. 

The highest maximum temperature recorded on Monday over the plains was 45.5 degrees Celsius in Khargaon, west Madhya Pradesh.

Thunderstorms were observed at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh and north interior Karnataka.

The India Meteorological Department said that a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is likely to affect Western Himalayan region and Northwest India from Monday and cause enhanced rainfall activity with isolated thunder squalls and hailstorms over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh till April 17.
