Pimpri: Guardian Minister Girish Bapat on Friday announced that in order to reduce the burden on the existing road connecting Hinjawadi to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, alternative roads heading to the Infotech Park will be developed on a priority basis.

Around 50 acres of land will be acquired for metro project in Hinjawadi, he said.

During his visit to Hinjawadi IT Park, Bapat put forward some tough questions to the officials of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) over the plight of the IT hub of Pune in Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi.

Bapat asked why Mhalunge Man Road was suddenly diverted at Mula river? On what basis Chande Road developed when land acquisition for the road has not completed? Why there is no thought on garbage management at the time of developing an international standard IT Park?

The officers were unable to answer these questions. Bapat also visited all  alternative roads that are leading to Hinjawadi IT park.

Bapat started his tour at 10 am from Mercedes Benz showroom in Balewadi. The convoy first stopped at Shedge Vasti where Bapat came to know the exact problem for developing the road.

He suggested that officials should study these problems thoroughly and should undertake development road in stretches dividing the road as per the jurisdiction of different authorities.

His convoy then reached the bridge on Mula River on Mhalunge Gaothan, where, after observing the progress of the work, Bapat asked MIDC to complete the work of bridge by January 2018.

Bapat has asked officials why the road connecting to the bridge has been diverted suddenly near the private residential project. But officials could not respond to this question satisfactorily.

In the last phase of his tour, Bapat took a review of Chande Nande Road, Bapat threw a number of questions at concerned officers and he also asked them to undertake repair work on the road on priority.
