GRP nabs three mobile thieves

Pune: Officials of the Pune Government Railway Police’s (GRP) local crime branch (LCB) have nabbed three persons involved in stealing mobile phones in Pune-Lonavala local trains and at Pune station.

The arrested accused have been identified as Lakhan Shrikant Kanojiya (19), Rishikesh Vijay Ranvar (19), both from Satara and Vicky Thokal (20) from Pimpri.

The arrested accused have been identified as Lakhan Shrikant Kanojiya (19), Rishikesh Vijay Ranvar (19), both from Satara and Vicky Thokal (20) from Pimpri.

Superintendent of GRP Prabhakar Budhwant said that Assistant Police Inspector Mangesh Jagtap was keeping a watch on suspicious people near Pune station when he spotted the three accused on June 24 near Pune station overbridge. “After the arrest of the three accused, during interrogation, they revealed to stealing mobile phones in local trains. We have recovered ten  mobile phones from different brands. Of the ten mobile phones recovered, four persons have lodged complaints and we are trying to trace the owners of other six mobile phones,” added Budhwant.

Additional Superintendent of Police (GRP) Tushar Patil informed that Lakhan and Vicky are history sheeters and are involved in previous cases of theft. The police investigation team included Police Inspector Anil Dabade and policemen.
