GoT twist: Bappa on Iron Throne

GoT twist: Bappa on Iron Throne

Pune: As fans of the cult TV series Game of Thrones (GoT) prepare to watch the Season 7 finale on Monday, here’s a sneak peek into how the fans have given their Ganpati celebrations a GoT twist.

This Ganeshotsav, a new trend of GoT-themed decorations has been noticed in city households as many people have made the famous ‘Iron Throne’ from the series for Bappa. The popular American fantasy drama television series has a huge fan-following across the world.

Gayatri Thakar of Sadashiv Peth, who is a fan of the show, said, “I love GoT and as the series is still going on during the festival this year, I thought of using the theme for my Ganesh decoration.

“I have made the ‘throne’ using thermocol, foam sheets and foam boards and painted it with acrylic colours.”GoT fans aren’t just innovative, but are also trying to be eco-friendly with their Ganesh celebrations. Another fan, Ankita Pathak, originally a Puneite now residing in the US, also has a GoT-themed decoration in her home. “I live with my sister and her husband and we are all die-hard fans of the show. We have made the throne all by ourselves using wood for the base, and toothpicks for the swords on the ‘throne’. It took us around two weeks to make it. Our Ganesh idol too is home-made and eco-friendly.” Ankita Agrawal, another eco-friendly fan of GoT, too has made the ‘Iron Throne’ for Bappa at her home using clay.
GoT theme for first time
While Ganesh decorations have often been observed to be based on popular movies, personalities or trending topics in households as well as at Ganesh pandals, this might be the first time that people have shown their creativity with GoT-themed decoration as ongoing TV series coincided with Ganeshotsav this year.
