Goon arrested after six months’ chase

PUNE: Officials of the Crime Branch of Pune city police arrested wanted notorious goon Chocolate Sunya alias Sunil Kishor Dokephode, after six months of a chase in connection with a murder case. 

Dokephode (32), a resident of Janata Vasahat, Parvati, along with his accomplices allegedly killed Nilesh Wadkar in Janata Vasahat on January 13 over past enmity. He then absconded. 

On the directions of Crime Branch Chief Add CP Ashok Morale, a a team led by ACP Bhanupratap Barge had been on his trail. 

“Policeman Ashok Shelar of Crime Branch Unit 4 received information that Dokephode is holidaying in Goa with his wife. A joint team of policemen from Units 1, 3 and 4 were formed and sent to Goa. By the time our team reached there, the accused had fled. However, our team managed to nab him from a luxury bus near Kolhapur. There are 28 cases registered against the accused,” Morale said. 

DCP (Crime) Shirish Sardeshpande, ACP Sameer Shaikh and ACP Barge supervised the investigation team which included Police Inspector Anjum Bagwan, PSI Vijay Zanjad, Nileshkumar Mahadik, and policemen Ganesh Salunkhe, Sachin Dhavale, Rakesh Khunve, Datta Phulsundar, Atul Sathe, Sandip Rathod, Sandip Talekar, Sachin Jadhav and Imran Shaikh.
