Pune: Notorious goon Abdul Gani Khan and three other members of his gang were booked under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) by Pune police. Khan and his gang have various cases, ranging from murder, dacoity, assault to extortion registered against them at Khadak, Kondhwa and Wanwadi police stations.
Khan (34), who is a resident of Ghorpadi, had formed his gang in 2004. The present members of his gang, who were also booked under MCOCA, were identified as Akshay Naik (28), Akshay Mane (23), both residents of Ghorpade Peth, and Akram Naseer (27), a resident of Aundh.
Khan and his men became a nuisance in Ghorpade Peth and were extorting money from the locals. A 64-year old complainant, Najma Issak, has registered a complaint against Gani and his accomplices for having free dinners at her eating joint for six months, as well as forcing her to pay Rs 2,000 per month as protection money. The complainant said that Khan demanded Rs 5,000 from her during Eid and on refusing to do so, he threatened to kill her son.
Khan and his accomplices have also threatened to kidnap Mehboob Hussain Allanna’s brother, and have extorted Rs 50,000 from him. They have assaulted Imran Sheikh after he denied paying them Rs 25,000 as extortion money.
The gang were also involved in threatening Lata Wate, who took a loan from Khan’s mother, and couldn’t pay her back.
Rajendra Mokashe, Police Inspector said, “All four accused were arrested and have been booked under MCOCA”.
