Pune: Promoting mountaineering sport through various challenging rock climbing and Himalayan mountaineering expeditions for the last 35 years, Giripremi has launched three challenging Himalayan expeditions.
Renowned film and theatre writer and director Kiran Yadnyopavit and Nandakumar Pujari, General Manger, Bank of Maharashtra, flagged off the programme for these expeditions on Friday. These expeditions will start in July.
These Himalayan expeditions, namely Mt Kun (7,077 m), Mt Nun (7,135 m) and Mt CB 13 (6,264) will be reached by 13-member teams. Mt Kun expedition team will be led by Rupesh Khopade and Kiran Salastekar. Dinesh Kotkar, Yugank Kadam and Dr Sumit Mhandale will be the team members. Mt Nun expedition team will be led by Subhash Takale and Jitendra Gaware and Mt CB 13 will be led by Vivek Shivade and Pawan Hadole. Sanket Dhotre, Jayant Wakode, Lokesh Shinde and Varun Bhagwat will be team members.
Chief guest of the programme, Kiran Yadnyopavit, gave warm wishes to the team members for the expeditions and guided them about the art of mountaineering, filming and writing. “Giripremi and the sport of mountaineering have been playing an instrumental role not only in developing mountaineers but also great citizens, by enabling them to have mountainous goals, dream big and take countless efforts to chase those visionary goals,” he said.
While speaking in-depth about the expeditions, Umesh Zirpe from Giripremi mentioned that this is the first time three big expeditions are taking place simultaneously and all three are technically challenging. All experienced mountaineers have participated in these expeditions and they have trained for these goals for the past 8-9 months.
