Gang of three burglars nabbed by Nigdi police

Pune: Officials of the Nigdi police were successful in busting a gang involved in executing multiple burglaries in Nigdi area. The arrested accused were identified as Harshad Pawar, Vikas Ghodke and Aayaz Shaikh. The police said that the accused are involved in 11 cases of burglary and robbery in Nigdi and one case in Lonikand.

The arrested accused were identified as Harshad Pawar, Vikas Ghodke and Aayaz Shaikh. The police said that the accused are involved in 11 cases of burglary and robbery in Nigdi and one case in Lonikand.

As per information given by Senior Police Inspector Vijaykumar Palsule, following various incidents of burglaries in Nigdi, police officials were trying to work out details of the burglary gang. “Policemen Farooq Mulla and Nitin Bahirat had received information about the burglars’ location in Bhatnagar, Chinchwad. Accordingly, a team of Nigdi police nabbed them in their car. We found cutters, screw drivers and other instruments used for breaking and into houses,” added Palsule.

Following this, the three accused were taken for interrogation and police found that the accused are involved in multiple burglary cases in the city. Police Inspector Shankar Awtade said that the accused had sold the booty to a Thane-based jeweller with the help of Harshad’s lover, identified as Kusum. 

“We have recovered gold ornaments, a car and a two-wheeler from the accused, which are collectively worth Rs 22.41 lakh,” added Awtade. The police investigation team included Assistant Police Inspector Devendra Chavan and policemen Mangesh Gaikwad, Anand Chavan, Swaminath Jadhav, Jamir Tamboli, Sharif Mulani, Machindra Ghanvat and Archana Akhande.
