Gang involved in multiple burglaries held

Pune: The city police have claimed that this year they have solved 66 per cent of the cases lodged in the city. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shirish Sardeshpande, who was talking to reporters after officials of the Crime Branch Unit 3, Anti-Extortion Cell, Anti-Dacoity Cell and the Property Cell busted the gang involved in multiple robbery and burglary cases in the city.

“This year there were 9,114 cases registered in the city of which we were able to detect 6,017 cases. This year we solved about 46 per cent of the burglary cases lodged in the city,” added Sardeshpande. The arrested gang had a particular modus operandi of robbing people of their four-wheelers and using the same to gain entry to plush societies.

According to the DCP, the arrested accused were identified as Karansingh Dudhani (20), Surjitsingh Tak(28), Bentosingh Kalyani (23), Rohan Kamble (21), Udhalsingh Dudhani (28) and Riyaz Sayyed (37).

After receiving information about the whereabouts of the accused, multiple raids were conducted by the police to nab them. “Karansingh, who was on the run, is also one of the accused wanted in the burglary case at house of famous writer PL Deshpande. Karansingh has 16 criminal cases against him and Udhalsingh was wanted on police records,” added Sardeshpande.

The police seized four cars, one motorcycle and 349 grams gold from the accused involved in burglary cases at Kondhwa, Khadki, Samarth, Wanawadi, Vishrantwadi, Sinhagad Road, Warje, Kothrud and Sahakar Nagar.

The investigation team included Assistant Commissioner of Police Samir Shaikh, Police Inspector Raghunath Jadhav, Rajendra Kadam, Anjum Bagwan, Assistant Police Inspector Sandip Deshmane, Police Sub Inspector Rahul Ghuge, Ajay Mhetre, policemen Kishore Shinde, Machhindra Valke, Prakash Magar, Gajanan Ganbote, Ramesh Garud, Rohidas Lavande, Mehboob Mokashi, Atul Sathe, Sandip Rathod, Sandeep Talekar, Sujit Pawar, Kalpesh Bansode, Sandip Girhe, Sachin Kokre, Amol Pilane and Uday Kalbhor.
