Ganesh Visarjan 2017: Pune gives a grand farewell to Bappa

Pune: The 125th anniversary of celebrations of Ganesh festival came to an end yesterday as more than 4,000 Ganpati Mandals had been seen in a long queue for the immersion of their Ganesh idols into the Mula and Mutha river which flown from the main heart of city.

As per the tradition started a few years ago, the Five Manache (Honoured) Ganpati Kasba Mandal, Tambadi Jogeshwari, Mandal,Guruji Talim Mandal, Tulshibaug Mandal and Kesriwada Trust Mandal will immerse first followed by others Ganpati mandals. These Mandal will be immersed in water tanks and not flown into the river. Apart from these, two other top Mandals in the city Shrimant Dagadusheth Ganpati Mandal and Akhil Mandai Mandal too will also immerse the idols in the tanks made by the Pune Municipal Corporation.

The Immersion procession started at 1030 hrs from Mahatma Phule Mandai after performing Ganesh Aarti at the hands of chief guests which include Pune Mayor Mukta Tilak and district Guardian Minister Girish Bapat.

The Kasba Ganpati, which started the leading procession sitting regally in a silver Chariot accompanied by shehnai player Dr Pramod Gaikwad and artists. The procession of Dagadusheth Ganpati started with Dhumravarna Chariot with a size of 15x15x22 feet comprising four arches and five ghumts.
