FTII to celebrate Foundation Day today

Pune: The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune is all set to celebrate its 58th Foundation Day on Wednesday.

Prof Mazhar Kamran of IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, will be the chief guest at the event. Also, Payal Kapadiya, a final year student of Direction and Screenplay, whose documentary was recently selected for the Berlin International Film Festival, will be felicitated.

Pune: The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune is all set to celebrate its 58th Foundation Day on Wednesday.

Prof Mazhar Kamran of IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, will be the chief guest at the event. Also, Payal Kapadiya, a final year student of Direction and Screenplay, whose documentary was recently selected for the Berlin International Film Festival, will be felicitated.

The event will begin at 4 pm with a performance by Regimental Jazz Band of Bombay Sappers (Indian Army’s Bombay Engineers Group) near the director’s office. Then, after a video address by FTII Chairman Anupam Kher, Kamran and Kapadiya will be felicitated.

Mazhar Kamran is a faculty at IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, since 2016 and teaches filmmaking and world cinema courses. 
The felicitations will be followed by the premier screening of ‘The Photographer’ by Mazhar Kamran, and screening of ‘And What Is The Summer Saying’, the documentary by Kapadiya that was recently invited to the International Competition section of Berlinale Shorts of the prestigious 68th Berlin International Film Festival.
In the end, the students and staff of FTII will present cultural programmes.
