Free 10-day consultation camp on prostate cancer

Pune: The Institute for Prostate Cancer, with an aim to increase awareness about prostate cancer and screening practices, is going to organise a free consultation camp from July 3 to July 13 at their premises.

According to the organiser, it is a grossly neglected disease and needs awareness for proper diagnosis. In the initial stages of prostate cancer, there are no or minimum symptoms like frequency of urination, waking up multiple times at night, straining to pass urine, sense of incomplete emptying, etc.

According to the organiser, it is a grossly neglected disease and needs awareness for proper diagnosis. In the initial stages of prostate cancer, there are no or minimum symptoms like frequency of urination, waking up multiple times at night, straining to pass urine, sense of incomplete emptying, etc.

However, in advanced stages this cancer spreads to bones leading to persistent backache, bone pains and loss of appetite with risk of fracture and paralysis. Hence, it is advisable to do regular screenings with DRE and PSA and not to neglect any kind of back pain, especially after 50 years of age.
