Fraudster dupes loan seeker of Rs. 2.75 lakh

Pune: The Chinchwad police have booked an unknown fraudster for duping a loan seeker of Rs 2,75,000 on the pretext of providing him a loan.

The complainant, who was seeking a loan from banks, was contacted by the unidentified fraudster in May, 2017. He told the victim that he is calling from a private bank and would like to help him with his loan. However, instead of providing a loan, the fraudster convinced the victim to make a payment of Rs 2,75,000 over a period of two months, citing loan processing fees.

The Chinchwad police said that the accused gathered the details of the complainant through the Internet as he had applied online for a loan. The accused has been booked for cheating.
