Four more deaths in PCMC due to swine flu

Pimpri: Four more deaths due to swine flu were reported in the last two days in Pimpri Chinchwad, taking the death toll to 49 since January this year.

These four deaths include two women from the city and two men from Junnar and Manchar respectively.

Six more cases of the infection were reported in city hospitals on Wednesday. A 63-year-old  woman, from Pradhikaran, died due to swine flu on Thursday. The woman was admitted to a private hospital on Wednesday. She was also suffering from hypertension.

On Friday, another 50-year-old woman from Akurdi succumbed to swine flu-induced complications. A 73-year-old man who hails from Manchar died due to H1N1 on Friday.
He was admitted to the hospital on September 8. Another 55-year-old man from Junnar also succumbed to the infection on September 3.

He reported late to the health department of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

On  Saturday, 223 cases with flu symptoms were reported at PCMC hospitals. Tamiflu was given to 27 patients. Swab samples of 16 patients were sent to the lab out of which eight tested positive.

So far this year, 75,034  patients visited hospitals in the PCMC limits with flu symptoms. Tamiflu was administered to 7,862 patients. Swab samples of 707 patients were sent to labs for testing, out of these 365 patients turned out to be positive for H1N1.

In all, 65 patients were put on a ventilator so far while 49 succumbed to infection.
