Four killed, three hurt in e-way mishap

Four persons were killed and three others were injured on Friday morning, after a trailer carrying cement bags rammed into three cars on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, near Adoshi.

Pune: Four persons were killed and three others were injured on Friday morning, after a trailer carrying cement bags rammed into three cars on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, near Adoshi.

According to the police, the trailer was going towards Mumbai from Pune. At around 10.45 am, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it hit the divider of the road before crossing over to the Mumbai-Pune lane. The speeding trailer jumped the median and hit three cars in the Pune-Mumbai lane. The police said that a car fell into a gorge after being hit by the trailer.
 
While four persons  were killed on the spot, other four injured persons are under treatment in different hospitals.

The deceased have been identified as Chitra Avinash Angre (42) and Nikita Avinash Angre (25) from Priyadarshani Society in Aundh and Mrunalini Kudekar (60) and Hasan Patel (28) from Osmanabad. The injured have been identified as Avinash Angre (45), Jitendra Bhaskar and a person only identified as Vithu. The incident had led to a traffic jam on the expressway. The Highway traffic department, IRB and other officials were deployed to clear the traffic. The Khopoli police are investigating the case.
