Four held for assaulting, robbing businessman

Pune: A businessman was assaulted and robbed by four persons after he questioned them for driving their two-wheelers in a wrong direction under Ramwadi flyover in Yerawada on Sunday.

The four persons were arrested by the Yerawada police and have been identified as Samir Khan (40), Amjad Shaikh (32) both residents of Sanjay Park, Lohegaon; Mohsin Shaikh (34), a resident of Kondhwa and Wajid Shaikh (34), a resident of Ajmera Park, Kondhwa.

Dipak Navale (29), a resident of Muliknagar, Vadgaon has registered a complaint with Yerawada police station. According to the police, Navale’s four-wheeler was stuck in traffic. The four accused came on bikes from the wrong direction, which led to an altercation between Navale and them. As it escalated, the four suspects assaulted Navale and also hit him with iron rods and stones. They also snatched his iPhone and a gold chain collectively worth Rs 95,000.

Assistant Police Inspector G More said that the accused were nabbed by locals and handed over to the police. “All the four arrested were remanded to police custody till September 22,” More added.
