Four cases of assault lodged on Ganesh immersion day

Pune: Four cases of assault were lodged in the city for creating a ruckus on Anant Chaturdashi. Rahul Bhalekar (30) who stays in PMC Colony in Rajendra Nagar was assaulted with a sickle by Sameer Sayyed who stays in the same colony. 

A case of assault has been lodged against Sameer at Vishrambaug police station. According to the Vishrambaug police, Rahul was dancing during the immersion procession of Akhil Rajendra Ganesh Mandal when unknowingly Rahul pushed Sameer. This led to a scuffle between the duo following which Rahul was assaulted with a sickle. In another case, a cross complaint was lodged at Kothrud police station after two groups clashed in Rautwadi Balaji Chowk on Tuesday evening. Suresh Waje who was passing from the mandal was asked to dance in the immersion procession and he refused to do so. This led to a scuffle and group clash when Waje was assaulted with a sickle by Kaustubh Shinde. The police said that Shinde was also assaulted in the group clash and hence, a cross complaint was lodged in the case. 

In another incident, Chintamani Jagtap was assaulted with a sickle while he was dancing in procession of Jai Ganesh Mitra Ganpati Mandal on Tuesday on Pune-Satara Road. The Sahakar Nagar police have booked Pappu Ukirde and Rohan Mane in the case.
