Foundation stone of therapy centre laid

Pune: The foundation stone of the building housing the remedial and therapy centre for special children named ‘Swabhiman’ was laid and the extension work of the new school building of Col Bhagat English Medium School, Khadki Bazaar. began within the limits of the Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB), on Saturday. 

The chief guests of the function were MP Anil Shirole and MLA Vijay Kale. Jojneswar Sharma, Director General, Defence Estate, New Delhi; LK Pegu, Principal Director, Pune; Brig Dhiraj Mohan, President of KCB; Amol Jagtap, CEO of KCB, and the ward members were present.

The tender was floated in November 2017 and was approved by the board recently which amounted to Rs 2.17 crore. Jagtap said, “As per the construction plan, the building will have three rooms and an office on the ground floor while the first floor will have four rooms and a laboratory. On the second floor, there will be a science laboratory and a hall.”

He added, “The school currently has 700 students, of which 70 pc come from below poverty line families.”
