Forest guard held for accepting Rs 11L bribe

According to ACB officials, Vilas Nikam, forest guard at Vadgaon in Maval, demanded the bribe to allow construction on a sealed land.

PUNE: A forest guard was arrested by officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs 11 lakh bribe on Friday. 

According to ACB officials, Vilas Nikam, forest guard at Vadgaon in Maval, demanded the bribe to allow construction on a sealed land. Construction on the land was stopped by forest officials as the 7/12 extract of the land mentioned that it is a private forest land. After the complainant lodged a complaint with the ACB, a trap was laid and Nikam was nabbed with the bribe amount. DSP D Bhapkar is investigating the case.
