Forest guard’s widow offered clerk’s job in Bhor sub-division

Vivek Khandekar said Nagthane’s wife was offered the job in Bhor forest division along with a payment of Rs 3 lakh from  World Wildlife Fund. Earlier, CM Devendra Fadnavis granted compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Nagthane’s family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

PUNE: Officials of the Pune Forest Department have offered a job of clerk to the widow of forest guard Sadashiv Nagthane of Bhor forest sub-division who succumbed to burn injuries on January 3 this year while dousing a forest fire in Apti village near Bhor. 

Chief Conservator of Forests Vivek Khandekar said Nagthane’s wife was offered the job in Bhor forest division along with a payment of Rs 3 lakh from  World Wildlife Fund. Earlier, CM Devendra Fadnavis granted compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Nagthane’s family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The fire took place on December 28 and Sadashiv suffered 70 per cent burn injuries. He was admitted to Surya Hospital, but succumbed to burn injuries on January 3. Vivek Khandekar, Chief Conservator of Forests, said it was an unfortunate incident. 

Officials of the Forest Department said they are trying to spread awareness among local villagers on forest fires as sometimes local villagers burn dry grass which leads to forest fires.
