Food vending machine for time-crunched IT professionals

Pune: Hinjawadi-based multinational companies are installing food vending machines, a fully-automated dispensing system, which provides instant meals at just a click. Frshly’s dispensing machine has food from the most popular restaurants in the city at affordable prices and in proportionate quantities.

According to the user manual of the machine, a set of dishes of various cuisines are prepared, such as Continental, Chinese, American etc. They are prepared right before the peak lunch time and are brought to the outlet and fed into the machine.

The designed technology automatically reads the food labels and displays the food item with its price on the machine so that the customer can pick what they want and order them with a click.

When the order is placed, the robotics technology picks up the food, reheats it and dispenses it to the customer. To ensure that the food offered is fresh, once the food is more than approximately six hours old, it automatically disappears from the menu.

The easy-to-handle machine is claimed to be a rescuer for thousands of IT employees, who can satiate their hunger within a few seconds. Subhajit Das from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said, “As I belong to a different state, I have to depend on my office canteen for lunch. There are several times when we just have 5 to 10 minutes to have our food and go back to work. During the lunch hour, it's impossible to get the desired food approximately before an hour, then I have to forcefully eat the junk and ready-made snacks as the cook also takes 20 to 30 minutes to prepare the food. This dispensing machine helps to get the food within some seconds. The whole process of ordering food to getting it delivered takes around 90 seconds.”

Another employee from Wipro IT Services, Subham Ghosh said, “There are approximately 50 to 60 items displayed on the machine with varieties of options like veg or non-veg, noodles or rice, combo or single dish, etc. The prices are also very reasonable starting from Rs 90 to Rs 300. It is like the instant deliverer of delicious food when you get hunger pangs for a long time.”
