FM approves budget of Rs 1,589 cr for Pune division

According to the district information officer, a demand of Rs 2,452.64 crore was made by officials of five districts. The budget was approved in a meeting on Tuesday.

PUNE: Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar who was in the city on Tuesday approved a budget of Rs 1,589 crore for development of Pune division which includes Pune, Solapur, Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur districts. 

According to the district information officer, a demand of Rs 2,452.64 crore was made by officials of five districts. The budget was approved in a meeting on Tuesday night. 

Officials said that Rs 33 crore was approved for tribal development. Pune district will receive a budget of Rs 505.76 crore but District Collector Naval Kishore Ram has demanded Rs 223.6 crore more for implementation of various schemes and development work in the district. 

Ram has allocated Rs 75.8 crore for road development and Rs 17.7 crore for new schemes. 

Resident Deputy Collector Jayashree Katare on Wednesday said that Rs 244 crore has been approved by the government for drought relief of which Rs 53 crore will be provided in first installment. 

The government has currently approved budget of Rs 2,909 crore to be disbursed and has planned a total disbursement of Rs 6,397 crore in the state. In all, 7 talukas of Pune district has been declared as moderate drought-prone.
