Five minors arrested for stealing vehicles

Pune: Five minor boys, who were in the practice to steal vehicles to afford a high-end lifestyle, have been arrested by Uttam Nagar police. Police have recovered seven bikes amounting to Rs 1.15 lakh from the accused.

The first arrest, made on July 31, was followed by four more arrests and a case was registered against the five minors on Monday.

The incident came to light when one of the accused was spotted by a police patrol team, at Achanak Chowk in Uttam Nagar. 

The accused was driving a black Activa with the number MH12GH9312. On the basis of suspicion, the cops checked the vehicle number on a mobile app in order to verify the number which came out to be MH12HG6312. 
Police followed the accused and detained him. 

During questioning, the minor revealed that he and his four friends had stolen the vehicle from Ahiregate at Shivane three months back. In further investigation, he revealed that in total they had stolen seven vehicles in five attempts made by them from several places across the city, said police.

Police informed that the minor offenders were involved in stealing vehicles to afford a high-end lifestyle. To avoid arrest, they used to make minor changes in the vehicle numbers.
