FITE Union meets labour minister to resolve issues

Pune: Members of the Forum for IT Employees (FITE Maharashtra) Union recently met Maharashtra Labour Minister Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar to address the ongoing issues of employees working in the IT industry. The members have asked the minister to form a state-level tri-partite committee including IT companies, FITE, and IT employees and Labour Ministry to address these issues. 

Speaking about the meet Pavanjit Mane, President of FITE Maharashtra said issues like forced resignations, forced terminations, unfair background verification, holding of full and final settlement of employees (FNF), holding relieving letters by some organisations, unfair employment bonds, forced performance in progress rules, reskilling issues in IT industry were discussed.

“We highlighted the need of creche facility,  overtime allowances, statutory bonus and model standing order which need to be followed by organisations. The employees’ rights need to be enforced to the fullest and cross-checked by the Labour Ministry,” added the FITE Maharashtra president.

The meeting was attended by officials from IT companies.  FITE members thanked the labour minister for showing support to IT employees. FITE members have been active in solving the issues of FNF for several employees with the help of the Labour Department. The members said there is no specific standard for overtime allowances and night allowances in the industry.
