Pune: Breaking the norms that fashion is only for high fliers, season one of the Pune Fashion Fiesta ended on a high note on October 2 at Phoenix Market City East Court. The first season was organised with the noble motive of generating funds for specially-abled children. The event kick-started with Ganesh Vandana by children with hearing disabilities and concluded with the guests walking the ramp with special children from Ayodhya Charitable Trust.
The finale of the fashion pageant saw upcoming models contesting for the coveted title of Mr and Miss Pune Fashion Fiesta. Aman Jain and Anjali Choughule took home the title while Rohit Lonkar, Kaushik Nevase, Priyanka Nevase and Swati Patel bagged the first and second runner-up positions.
Celebrating every aspect of fashion, Pune Fashion Fiesta, thus, stood apart from its counter pageants with competitions for the backstage crew. The winners being Harshal Kulkarni for photography, Kalyani Tikone for- make-up and Riya Raka for fashion designing.
"Through the Pune Fashion Fiesta, make-up artists working behind the scenes are given an opportunity to showcase their work, further a genuine platform is offered to all the members of the industry either on-stage or backstage,” said Swapneel Ranjane, celebrity make-up artist and member of the jury panel.
The fashion show saw the who's who of Pune coming in together to support the noble cause. Saurabh Gadgil of PNG Jewellers and actor Sumit Nijhawan graced the event with their presence. The Crown Plaza ensured that the esteemed guests for the event were offered the desired care and comfort which added glitter to the evening.
The panelists for the Pune Fashion Fiesta comprised leading personalities from the Pune fashion industry namely Sheetal Arpal, creative head of ICC Cable Network, celebrity make-up artist Swapneel Ranjane, renowned model Yog Kachare, ace photographers Bhushan Deshmukh and Pratham Dsygnus, fashion stylist Sonali Magar and model-turned-entrepreneur Soniya Shetty Singh.
"Fashion events aren't a novelty anymore but through Pune Fashion Fiesta we aim at generating funds for kids with hearing and speaking challenges. It's our endeavour to make a difference through this initiative,” said Soniya Singh, part of the organising team and Mrs Commonwealth Asia Pacific first runner-up 2016.
