Firemen, cops felicitated

Pune: Fire brigade and Pune police teams were felicitated for their work during the Ganesh immersion procession. The ceremony was held by Shri Tulshibaug Ganpati Sarvajanik Mandal in Tulshibaug on Saturday.

Chief of the fire brigade team Prashant Ranpise and lifeguards Sunny Bhokare and Gyaneshwar Chinke, besides firemen Dadasaheb Yadav, Subhash Handak, Madhukar Mate, Sachin and Shatrugya Waje were felicitated. Pune Police Commissioner Rashmi Shukla was also present at the event.

This was the 8th year the function was held. Nitin Pandit, Treasurer of the mandal, said, “This was the 125th year of the Ganeshotsav and for the first time, the Pune Municipal Corporation joined in. Devotees were quite excited. The police and fire brigade did hard work and handled the crowd very well. To appreciate their efforts, we have organised this ceremony.”

Shukla was felicitated by Vivek Khatavkar, President of Shri Tulshibaug Ganpati Sarvajanik Mandal. Shukla said, “Such events help us get motivated as this tells us that people don’t forget us once they are done with their work. Managing the crowd that day was possible that day because we communicated very well.”
