FDA seizes ghee, oil worth Rs 3 lakh

SS Desai, FDA Joint Commissioner, Pune, told Sakal Times that the department was tipped off by the Crime Branch, which led to the raid. 

Pune: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Pune, along with Crime Branch of Pune police on Saturday night seized cow ghee, buffalo ghee, butter, vanaspati ghee and refined soybean oil, totally worth 
Rs 3,57,843. 

The raid started at 10 pm on Saturday and was over by 3.30 am on Sunday. 

SS Desai, FDA Joint Commissioner, Pune, told Sakal Times that the department was tipped off by the Crime Branch, which led to the raid. 
“We seized the ghee found there and sent the samples for testing. After the reports come, the next step will be decided. These vendors did not have proper licences,” said Desai. 

“The total cost was estimated at over Rs 3.5 lakh. We have taken 14 samples for analysis. We have seized 47 empty tins, 12 stainless steel pipes, three plastic tubs, two cans, three buckets, three bag sealing machines and three tin cap press machines from the flat,” said a source from FDA.  

In a press release, the FDA said the tenants at the house were identified as Shersing Rajput, Kesharsing Rajput, Ganga Sing Bhayal (Rajput), who were manufacturing the ghee and  butter. 

The Food Safety Officers (FSO) involved in the raids were PP Gunjal, FSO KS Shinde, FSO US Ingawale, along with FSO DG Veer, FSO AA Maitre, FSO SS Sawant, FSO JP Kokane, under the guidance of SP Shinde, Assistant Commissioner, and SS Desai, FDA Joint Commissioner Pune.
