Pune: Shedding the image of government offices being inefficient, as compared to private corporate offices, the office of the Food & Drugs Administration (FDA), headed by State Food and Drug Minister and District Guardian Minister Girish Bapat, has received an ISO certification. This has made it the second office in Mantralaya to receive such a certification.

Bapat was handed over the certification by State Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil recently. The certification assures that the office has fulfilled its stringent benchmarks related to the efficiency of working, timeliness, implementing smart concepts in governance, discipline and others. The employees of the office have been trained as per the ISO guidelines. Everything, including the seating arrangement, has been done according to the benchmarks.

Bapat, while speaking on the occasion, said, “The objective behind the certification was to increase the speed and efficiency of the office. Also, the working of the office must be more people-oriented and well-disciplined in order to serve the larger interests of citizens.” He said there has been a special emphasis on maintaining transparency in the affairs of the department. According to Bapat, the office has set an objective of increasing communication with citizens, addressing their complaints among other things.
