Farmers await decision on the land compensation model

Pune: While the farmers of Purandar who are awaiting the decision on compensation model for their lands to be acquired for building Purandar international airport, a meeting regarding this will be held in Delhi on April 23.

A meeting to discuss this issue was scheduled on Wednesday, but due to time constraints, the discussion on compensation model was postponed to April 23. Once the compensation model is decided it has to be approved from accounts, revenue, law and judiciary departments so that there are fewer problems during actual land acquisition from locals of Purandar.

The compensation models submitted by the district administration to the government include one-time settlement in which cash is paid to the locals and the settlement is done then and there. In the second model, the farmers will be given cash along with 12 per cent developed land along with 1.5 times FSI.

The third model includes taking land on long lease from the farmers. In this model, farmers are paid based on acres of land acquired. A compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre on an annual basis for rain-fed lands and Rs 1 lakh per acre on annual basis for irrigated land is suggested by the administration to the government.

A senior official said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will take a decision on the compensation model before it is approved by other government authorities.
