Externed goon nabbed for robbery in Mandai

Pune: A 37-year-old notorious goon, who had been externed from city limits, has been arrested for allegedly looting cash and gold chain, totally worth Rs 77,000, in Mandai recently. 

The arrested accused has been identified as Vinod Devram Gaikwad (37) of Pandav Nagar. The accused pretended to be a policeman and took away the money and gold chain from the victim. The 60-year-old complainant from Bhavani Peth had gone to purchase fruits in Mandai. While returning on his two-wheeler, the accused stopped and questioned him.

The accused, who pretended to be a policeman, said, “What kind of rate were you asking from the woman fruit seller? I have received a complaint that you were asking for rates as if she was a commercial sex worker.”

“The accused then took away Rs 2,000 cash and 25 gram gold chain to let him go,” a police officer said. 
The terrified man later lodged a complaint with the Vishrambaug police station.
Acting on a tip-off received by constable Sachin Jagdale, cops nabbed Gaikwad, who has several cases of extortion, robbery, etc, and recovered the cash and gold chain from his possession.
