Expo by physically challenged people gets good response

Pune: Saathi Foundation, Pune has organised the 16th edition of its ‘Protsahan Pradarshan’, an exhibition of beautiful artefacts made by the physically challenged people, at Manohar Mangal Karyalaya, Erandwane. The exhibition is receiving a good response from the people. It will continue till October 24 between 10 am and 8 pm. 
The stalls included food stalls, Diwali shopping, jute and paper bags and various other items.

Ranjana Athalye, organiser, Saathi Foundation said, “This exhibition aims to help the handicapped people reach to a wider audience. We also give them a platform to promote their talent.”

Pooja Munot, who is selling handmade bags, saree covers along with various other items, said, “I really like coming here. It feels good when people appreciate my work. I’ve been participating in the exhibition from last 16 years and each time is a new learning experience.” 

Another participant Ankita Avirkar’s mother said, “My daughter had a hobby of making soaps and wanted to learn more about it. She started selling it and the response has been very good. This exhibition has helped us reach to a wide range of customers.” 

There are a lot of creative artefacts on display at the exhibitions along with various food items. Rishikesh Joshi, one of the visitors, said, “It is really fascinating to see how they manage to make such beautiful things despite their disabilities.” 

Another visitor said, “I am amazed to see the level of creativity in these people. All the items they made are really beautiful and you don’t generally find these elsewhere in the market. It is amazing to see such work. Hats off to them.” 

Aarti Patwardhan, one of the organisers from Saathi Foundation, said, “There are various trusts who work for the welfare of the physically challenged people and also individuals participating. Patwardhan also said, “Like every year, we are expecting a positive response this year as well. We motivate the participants to make their products a bit more innovative as per their potentials.”
