Ex-corporator writes to CM demanding probe

Pimpri: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) had issued ‘Transferable Development Rights (TDR) worth Rs 5,300 crore in last 10 months. Deputy Director of Town Planning Department Prakash Thakur was transferred by the State government a month ago. But he was not relieved of his responsibility in the civic body.

Former corporator Maruti Bhapkar who joined Shiv Sena before civic polls wrote to the chief minister and demanded a detailed inquiry into the matter. Bhapkar said, “Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar did not relive Thakur from his job and he continued to clear the pending files of TDR. Therefore, the suspicion has increased. Hence, the State government must initiate an inquiry against files those were cleared in last 10 months after Shravan Hardik took charge as commissioner of PCMC.”

Bhapkar wrote in his letter, “The PCMC has issued a total of 41.27 lakh square feet of TDR in last 10 months. The total value of these TDRs is Rs 5,300 crore. We suspect that BJP MLAs, office-bearers and corporators are involved in this. Hence, we want a thorough inquiry into the matter.”

“Deputy Director Prakash Thakur has been transferred as Deputy Director of the Department of Slum Improvement and Rehabilitation (SRA) in  Mumbai on February 14, 2018. The transfer order has been passed on February 14. However, Thakur was not relieved from his office and he continued to clear their files. It raises the suspicion,” said Bhapkar.
