Pune: Firefox Bikes and Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation (ABBF) are organising ‘#EverydayAbility,’ an inclusive event that will witness individuals, including those with disabilities, participating in rappelling and slacklining in the city on Sunday.
The initiative is being organised to demonstrate that adventure is for all. The collaboration is committed to dispel misconceptions surrounding Persons with Disability (PwDs), proving that disability is not an impediment to adventure. Such events are being organised in seven cities across India.
#EverydayAbility will be held at Vikhay Patil School, 6.30 am onwards. The participants include pairs of a normal rider and a disabled rider. There would be 30 to 40 participating teams.
Aditya Munjal, CEO of Firefox Bikes, said, “We hope towards enhancing inclusion and employ-ability for PwDs. We are confident that this opportunit will blossom into a vibrant platform for people.”
ABBF is a non-profit that hosts adaptive and inclusive adventure sports that cater to various disabilities. “If you want to see large-scale systemic change, it is imperative to have corporates and other large organisations buy into the cause. It paves the path and sends out a message. This role-modelling, this willingness to take a stand, is what acts as the true impetus to social change,” said Divyanshu Ganatra, Founder of ABBF.
This collaboration is facilitated by Volunteer4India, an online platform that seeks to create an ecosystem of volunteers, corporates and educational institutions committed to social causes.
