WBDD was established in 2004 to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their voluntary life-saving gift of blood.

Pune: The Vidya Prathishthan Nanded City Public School (VPNCPS) had organised an essay competition for the students of Class 6, 7 and 8 on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) on June 14.

WBDD was established in 2004 to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their voluntary life-saving gift of blood.

The students also made posters under the guidance of Principal Nila Kharosekar and teachers Ritesh Jadhav and Sonia Kale.

The aim of organising the event was to create awareness among the students to donate blood to the needy.

“Through this activity, students have understood the importance of blood availability to persons in need and were ready to donate by their own will and save someone’s life by doing little efforts without costing them anything.

“Thus, due to this activity, awareness is created among the students, teachers and parents,” said
Kharosekar.
